Great Decisions Discussion Groups

The Columbus Council on World Affairs presents the Great Decisions program in collaboration with the
Foreign Policy Association. Anchored by several self-led discussion groups across Central Ohio which
bring citizens together to discuss U.S. foreign policy and global affairs issues, the program leverages
the resources of the Great Decisions briefing book, a well-researched annual publication featuring eight
timely articles on key international issues. The 2012 are: Middle East realignment, Promoting democracy,
Mexico, Cybersecurity, Exit from Afghanistan & Iraq, State of the Oceans, Indonesia, and Energy geopolitics.

The CCWA Great Decisions discussion group meets every other week and is open to the public. For the
current meeting schedule, contact Shannon McAfee, Director of Public Programs.

The discussion group format is easily adaptable to classrooms, home schooling organizations, affinity
groups, and groups of friends. For details on how to start your own Great Decisions discussion group,
contact Shannon McAfee.

To learn about opportunities to financially support this program, please contact Patrick Terrien,

As we become a city of multicultural values increasingly aware of international affairs – I am confident that the Columbus Council on World Affairs will maintain success in educating the people of central Ohio through the years to come.
