International Company of the Year

The Council annually honors an International Company of the Year for its leadership
in bridging central Ohio with the global economy and increasing awareness of issues
that have both international and local impact. Past honorees include American Electric Power,
Honda, Cardinal Health, Battelle, Nationwide, The Ohio State University and Limited Brands.
The Council has selected Greif as the 2012 honoree.

The Award is presented at the International Awards Ceremony, which also recognizes
an outstanding K-12 educator. More than 600 business, civic and academic leaders join
the Council in bestowing these honors. The Ceremony is the Council’s highest profile
event, serving as the primary fundraiser and “friendraiser”, with more than 80% of funds
going directly to support educational programs for students, teachers, and the community.
The Ceremony also highlights a community group, featuring an element of live entertainment.
Past groups include the Jazz Arts Group, Ballet Met, Columbus Zoo & Aquarium, the
Columbus Symphony Orchestra and Thiossane West African Dance Institute.

The 2012 Ceremony will be held on March 15, 2012 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.

Obstacles for teaching globally continue, despite the political necessity of preparing students to be citizens in an ever-shrinking world.”
