Brooklin Williams is a senior at Marion Harding High School and a third year Global Scholar student.  As a third-year student, Brooklin is required to complete a Take Action project as the capstone piece of the Global Scholars Diploma program. The Take Action projects are executed independently by Global Scholars students with the guidance of a CCWA advisor. Through the projects, Global Scholar students address a global issue, such as climate change, food scarcity, human trafficking, etc, and implement a solution that makes a difference in their local communities.

Earlier this year, Brooklin attended the Teen Eco Summit at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, a program that empowers students to take action around an environmental issue and implement solutions locally. The Columbus Zoo & Aquarium is a community partner of the Global Scholar Diploma program and through her work the Teen Eco Summit, Brooklin framed her Global Scholars Level 3 Action Plan. Her focus is on establishing a better environment and planet.  She researched ways that people could locally engage in activities to reduce waste and use products that are more environmentally friendly.  Her research, findings, and action compelled her to share her findings with others. As a result, she competed in the local Rotary Scholarship competition and won because of her passion and actions. As a result of her impact and positive contributions, Brooklin will compete in the district Rotary scholarship competition in March. In the fall, she plans to attend Wesleyan University in Connecticut.

Come celebrate Brooklin, and the other 2018-19 Global Scholar Graduates at the International Awards Ceremony on May 17, 2019.
