Congratulations to the 2017-18 graduates of our Global Scholars Diploma (GSD) program! We were thrilled to honor these inspiring and action-oriented young leaders in our community at this year’s International Awards Ceremony on May 3. Global Scholars were front and center at our largest event of the year, and we could not be prouder of all their accomplishments over the past three years. With 125 students, this year’s graduating class was our largest ever as the GSD program continues to grow and expand across the region. In 2018-19, we will have approximately 1,200 students participating in CCWA’s signature three-year experiential global competence credential.
As I listened to our GSD graduates talk about their capstone “Take Action” projects, it occurred to me that they have been busy tackling issues that regularly make headlines in the media: gender inequality, religious intolerance, human trafficking, climate change, food insecurity, and misinformation about immigrants, just to name a few. As we plan for continued growth of the program, I am excited about the impact our Global Scholars will have across society and around the world. I can think of no goal more important than investing in the next general of global change-makers, which is why this drives everything we do at CCWA.
